Paul E. Beaulé
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Welcome to ISHA 2020!
On behalf of ISHA – The Hip Preservation Society, we would like to welcome you to the 12th ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting, to be held in Ottawa, Canada, from 1st – 3rd October 2020.
The ISHA 2020 Annual Scientific meeting will build on the foundations of a meeting of scientific excellence which attracts worldwide arthroscopic and open hip surgeons, hip preservation and rehabilitation professionals, to present and exchange their knowledge, best practice and important research results.
The programme will focus on the best and latest science and will aim to accommodate the needs and interests of everyone (PhDs, MDs and allied health professionals) with an interest in hip preservation. Each day will have a focus on the different components of the overall strategy necessary in the treatment of simple and complex hip diseases such as dysplasia, impingement, osteonecrosis and arthritis in the young adult.
Interspersed throughout the programme will be debates, highlight lectures, symposia, and instructional courses focusing on the most current and controversial topics in hip preservation. We will plan networking activities within the programme, providing each of you an opportunity to interact on a personal level with the thought leaders from around the world.
Ottawa is the Capital of Canada with world renowned outdoor parks such as the Gatineau and Algonquin Parks which will be in full colours in the first days of autumn. Its bilingual (French and English) combined with all of the key museums located within a walking distance and world class restaurants make it a choice destination. Nearby historical towns (Québec City, Montréal, Kingston) are wonderful to visit and we hope you may be able to extend your day.
We are delighted to be holding ISHA 2020 at one of the world’s elite convention centres. The beautiful Shaw Centre, located in the heart of downtown next to the Rideau Canal—a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was recently named one of the top 3 convention centres in the world in AIPC’s World’s Best Convention Centre rankings. The Shaw Centre is located in the heart of Ottawa, close to Parliament Hill, the business district, historic centre attractions including Byward Market and business hotels. All facilities and attraction are within easy walking distance. We will be using Level 1 of the Conference Centre, enabling an excellent flow for delegates from registration to meeting rooms and the exhibition and commercial space. Level 1 has a direct link into the adjacent Westin Hotel.
A Commercial exhibition will be held as an integral part of ISHA 2020. We plan to incorporate refreshment breaks and poster viewing in these areas to ensure there is a central “engagement hub” promoting dialogue and discussion outside of sessions. Industry-led luncheon seminars will round up the program.
We look forward to meeting you in Ottawa, and to enjoy together this exciting meeting.

We will invite Free Paper and video submissions to attract the latest and highest quality research in the field from hip preservation surgeons along with prevention and rehabilitation experts from all over the world. We plan to incorporate practical skills sessions with cadaver lab and virtual simulator training programmes
The ISHA 2020 Annual Scientific Meeting will provide a unique international forum for attendees to share scientific information and learn the latest advancements of arthroscopic and open hip surgery for the hip and preservation surgery. We are especially looking forward to providing a world-class forum where international colleagues from the surgical and physiotherapy communities can engage and exchange knowledge and research.
